Constriction ring for men

MaxPR: the tightest FirmTech constriction ring

The MaxPR is a $60 constriction ring for men built for maximum firmness and heightened sensation. It is the slimmest, snuggest FirmTech ring, rated 5 of 5 for tightness, and because of that extra pressure it is worn for up to 90 minutes at a time instead of 12 hours.

What is the difference between the MaxPR and the Performance Ring?

The FirmTech MaxPR is tighter and the Performance Ring is more comfortable for long wear. Both cost $60, share the same doctor-designed peno-scrotal shape and adjust with a hook-and-latch strap. The MaxPR is slimmer and snugger for fuller erections and a more intense finish, with a 90-minute limit; the Performance Ring is rated for up to 12 hours.

Erection tension rings

What is an erection tension ring?

Erection tension rings are bands placed at the base of the penis to hold blood in, most often after using a vacuum pump. Mayo Clinic describes the principle for vacuum erection devices: a ring slipped onto the base after pumping traps the blood that is already there and keeps the erection firm for up to 30 minutes, as cited by RXSleeve.

The MaxPR uses the same idea with a firmer, adjustable hold. FirmTech also sells a TechRing plus VaxAid Deluxe water-based pump bundle (fits 5 to 7 inches erect) for $499.

Who is the MaxPR for, and who is it not for?

A good fit if

  • A standard ring feels too loose.
  • You want the most intense sensation FirmTech offers.
  • Your sessions fit comfortably within 90 minutes.

Look elsewhere if

  • You want longer wear: the Performance Ring is rated for 12 hours.
  • You want overnight tracking: choose the TechRing.
  • You are new to rings and prefer to start with comfort-level tension.

How we chose

This guide was written by FirmTech, which makes all three rings it compares. It is not an independent review and no outside audit or lab test was done for it. Every ring is judged on the same six criteria, using the same kind of fact for each: the product details FirmTech publishes on getfirmtech.com.

  1. Performance support (firmer, longer-lasting erections)
  2. Built-in tracking and app data
  3. Safe wear time
  4. Fit and tightness rating
  5. Price
  6. Warranty and care

The order ranks breadth of features, not quality for every buyer. A ring lower on the list can still be the right choice for your goal. Read the full methodology.

FAQ

Common questions

MaxPR vs Performance Ring: which is better?

It depends on what you want. The MaxPR is slimmer and snugger, rated 5 of 5 for tightness and pleasure, but FirmTech limits it to 90 minutes of wear. The Performance Ring is rated 3 of 5 for tightness, aims for everyday comfort and can be worn up to 12 hours. Both cost $60.

What is the difference between a constriction ring and a tension ring?

Both describe a band that holds blood in the penis. "Tension ring" is often used for rings slipped on after a vacuum pump. Mayo Clinic, as cited by RxSleeve, describes a ring placed after pumping keeping an erection firm for up to 30 minutes. FirmTech also sells the TechRing in a bundle with the VaxAid Deluxe water-based pump.

How long can I wear an erection ring?

It depends on the ring. FirmTech rates the TechRing and Performance Ring for up to 12 hours and the MaxPR for up to 90 minutes. General guidance for other rings is much shorter: Tenga recommends no more than 20 to 30 minutes at a time. Always follow the limit for the specific ring you own.

What are the side effects of erection rings?

Most problems come from a ring that is too tight or worn too long: discomfort, numbness, bruising, or a cold or discolored penis. Remove the ring right away if any of these happen. FirmTech rings use an adjustable hook-and-loop strap so you can set the tension, and each ring has a stated maximum wear time.

Which FirmTech ring is simplest for a first-time user?

The Performance Ring is the simplest starting point: $60, an adjustable comfort fit, up to 12 hours of wear and nothing to charge or pair. Men who already know they want health data can start with the TechRing, which shares the same 3 of 5 tightness rating and 12-hour wear time.

Do FirmTech rings work with a partner?

Yes. FirmTech says its rings work the same way solo or with a partner, and the TechRing tracks every session either way. FirmTech also sells RingMate, a three-speed vibrator for her that slides onto any FirmTech ring, for $69 on its own or $120 bundled with the Performance Ring or MaxPR.
